Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Francis Lewis High School, Home of the Patriots! We take a lot
of pride in our diverse school community and we are excited that you are a part of it. We are
committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment that leads to high achievement
and individual excellence. Our mission is to prepare every student for success in college, career,
and life.
Our goal is to personalize education for every student. Together we will set goals that will guide
you successfully through the next four years. However, you have the responsibility as a young adult
to be an active participant in your education. This means attending class everyday on time, being
prepared and involved in classroom activities, doing the required work, and being a respectful
member of our school community.
We firmly believe that a strong home and school partnership will help our students be successful.
In order to assist you in all aspects of a quality education at Francis Lewis High School, students
and parents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of all our valuable resources. This means get to
know your Guidance Counselor and communicate with him/her regularly, get to know the Parent
Coordinator who will keep you informed of all school-wide news and events. Parents should attend
monthly PTA meetings. Meet your child’s teachers at Parent/Teacher Conferences in the Fall and
Spring Terms. Use our internet resources to stay informed and to monitor your child’s academic
progress. Constant communication will ensure that your child will have a productive academic high
school career.
It is our privilege and our challenge as educators to continually strive to provide well-rounded
education for our students. We have a caring and dedicated faculty that is committed to the success
of every student at Francis Lewis High School. In your four years at Lewis you will have the
opportunity to take advantage of a wide variety of academic and extra curricular programs. I
strongly encourage you to be actively involved in our school community.
I am here to support each and every one of you. Please do not hesitate to come to my office or
